Bariloche
The Little SwitzerlandChocolate capital of Argentina
From July to October, Bariloche is one the greatest destinations in the country for everything it has to offer: skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, sliding, and ATV riding.
If you’re into winter sports, the mountains offer smooth slopes and woods. Expert athletes can face new challenges in slopes that reach up to 2,100 MSL. and “off-track” skiing lovers will be amazed at the number of options available to them.
Nicknamed “The Little Switzerland” because of its Swiss architectural influence, Bariloche is a major tourist center for skiers and snowboarders. It’s located along Lake Nahuel Huapi and mountains and forests encircle it. The landscape is truly a beauty.
This city has dozens of places to stay, ranging from modest inexpensive rooms to five star hotels. If you prefer, there are also a wide variety of bed and breakfasts, hostels, cabins, and private homes available to rent.
Chocolate capital of Argentina
San Carlos de Bariloche is the chocolate capital of Argentina (yum!), so chocolate shops are abundant in the area. Restaurants of all kinds, as well as exciting après ski and nightlife will keep you busy when not on the slopes. Ski and snowboard shops have rentals for outerwear and accessories. Also stop by the crafts shops for local artisan goods such as jewelry, woolen clothing, woodcarvings, and artwork.
