Winter in Aspen
Winter is by far the season Aspen is best known for. Ski and snowboard on the area’s world-class slopes during the day and be prepared for some of the best in arts and culture in the evening. Boasting over 100 restaurants offering up everything from burgers to sushi, Aspen is as much as a culinary destination as it is a ski and snowboard destination.

Things to Do:
Even if you don’t ski, there is plenty to be enjoyed in this winter wonderland: ice skating, cross country skiing, dog sledding, snowmobiling, fly fishing, hot air ballooning and more.
Cross country skiing:
Cross-country skiing is a form of skiing where skiers rely on their own locomotion to move across snow-covered terrain, rather than using ski lifts or other forms of assistance.
Dog sledding:
A dog sled or dog sleigh is a sled pulled by one or more sled dogs used to travel over ice and through snow. Numerous types of sleds are used, depending on their function. They can be used for dog sled racing.
Fly fishing:
Fly fishing is an angling method in which an artificial “fly” is used to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialized weighted line. Casting a nearly weightless fly or “lure” requires casting techniques significantly different from other forms of casting.
Spring in Aspen
A fickle but fun time to visit Aspen, with Spring skiing that allows visitors to bask in warm temps, but also be susceptible to winter storms that send fresh powder to the mountains. The mountains tend to close around mid-April – a time when you can enjoy a quieter visit in town while watching the crocus, daffodils and Crab Apple Trees start to bloom.

Things to Do:
Late May & early June (SECRET SEASON 5/1 – 6/12, 2016) are ideal for white water rafting enthusiasts. For the tamer of heart, take a visit to the John Denver Sanctuary to reflect on the “Rocky Mountain High.”
White water rafting:
Rafting and white water rafting are recreational outdoor activities which use an inflatable raft to navigate a river or other body of water. This is often done on whitewater or different degrees of rough water, and generally represents a new and challenging environment for participants.
John Denver Sanctuary:
The John Denver Sanctuary is located just across the park from the Rio Grande Place Visitors Center. The memorial features many of the singers’ songs etched into the rocks. It is an idyllic location and visitors will not wonder for long where Rocky Mountain High originated.
Summer in Aspen
The favorable weather is by far one of the highlights of Summer in Aspen, with daytime temperatures hovering around the 70’s and 80’s, and evening temps in the 60’s. Add the lack of humidity to the mix, and you can easily see why people gravitate to the area long after the winter snow has melted.

Fall in Aspen

Golden Leaf Half Marathon
Runners from across the US will descend upon Aspen, Colorado to participate in the much anticipated Golden Leaf Half Marathon. Chosen by Trail Runner Magazine as one of “America’s 14 Most Scenic Races” and Colorado Runner Magazine as the “Best Half Marathon” in 2008, the Golden Leaf is one of the most beautiful foot races in the Rockies.
Aspen Ruggerfest
The world’s only all-age, full-contact rugby tournament. Champion rugby is on display for four full days, rain, snow, or shine.
